A property that will serve as an overnight respite service for children with disabilities in Carlow and Kilkenny has finally be purchased by the HSE.
Carlow TD Pat Deering says the sale of the eight-bedroom house on the Castledermot Road in Tullow was finalised in recent days.
The last overnight service locally shut down in December of 2015.
Deputy Deering has told KCLR News it will still take some time though before this house is ready for use as the HSE and Enable Ireland will now have to apply for planning permission to bring it up to standard so it can be registered with HIQA.
It’s hoped work will then start by mid-summer in order to be ready for use before the end of the year.
