The largest slice of the €13.8 million granted for road maintenance and repairs in Kilkenny will be going to Thomastown.
The annual roads funding has been announced this week with €5.8 million granted for Carlow – €200,000 of which is going to the Southern Relief Road.
Overall, it marks a €1 million increase on the funding that was given last year for Carlow.
In Thomastown, 16 weeks of repair works are to be carried out on an underground tunnel that carries a stream through the town and €680,000 euro has been allocated.
Those works are set to begin on the 1st of March and local councillor, Breda Gardner says she’s had assurances that there will be no road closures during that time.
