A Kilkenny sheep farmer has described feeling ‘unsafe’ as 3 dogs faced him down on his farm this week.
Brian Nicholson subsequently shot the animals after finding them worrying his flock early on Monday morning.
He was checking ewes lambing down in the shed when he heard the dogs in a nearby field.
On inspection he discovered there were 3 of them and he went to get his gun.
He told KCLR Live he fired a shot at the first and hit him but it didn’t deter the others so he took another shot at each of them.
Brian says he can’t bear to think what would have happened if the dogs had gotten into the shed where the ewes were ready to lamb.
He’s appealed to dog owners to be responsible and know where your animals are.
