Nobody was seriously injured when a plane made an emergency landing in Kilkenny yesterday.
The Cessna 172 had been on a routine training flight towards Waterford when the pilot experienced a rough-running engine. He informed Air Traffic Control advising he’d identified a suitable landing site – he positioned the aircraft for landing and carried out a precautionary landing in a suitable grass field in the Carrigeen, Mooncoin area in accordance with standard operation procedures.
Atlantic Flight Training Academy has confirmed to KCLR News that both the instructor and the student were assessed and cleared on site before safely returning to Waterford Airport Base.
