Kilkenny hurling is mourning the loss of one of its greats following the passing of Jim Treacy at the age of 82.
The Bennettsbridge man was one of the standout defenders of his generation and captained Kilkenny to All-Ireland glory in 1967.

Treacy enjoyed a glittering career in the black and amber, collecting six All-Ireland senior hurling medals, nine Leinster titles and a National Hurling League crown.
Widely regarded as one of the finest backs ever produced by Kilkenny, he also earned All-Star honours during a remarkable inter-county career that spanned one of the county’s most successful eras.
