There are concerns locally that an impending hosepipe ban could impact Carlow and Kilkenny.
Uisce Éireann last night confirmed a Water Conservation Order will take effect from this Thursday (16th July), running to 26th August, across Dublin, South Tipperary and parts of Kildare, Wexford, Wicklow and Meath.
It’s as the prolonged dry weather’s seriously affecting water supplies and could be extended if the high temperatures continue. (Which is likely – see the latest notice issued for our area here).
Anyone found breaching the ban could face fines of up to €5,000.
