Fire crews in Tipperary battled a blaze on Slievenamon mountain yesterday, with council staff working to contain the fire and assess any risk to nearby land and property.
Aerial support was also requested to determine the full extent of the blaze, with crews stood down shortly after midnight.

Meanwhile, emergency services tackled another fire near Clover Meadows in Ferrybank on the Waterford/Kilkenny border yesterday evening. The blaze, reported at around 7pm, was quickly brought under control.
The causes of both fires remain unknown, but people are being reminded not to light fires or barbecues near forests, grasslands or upland areas.
