New figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) suggest that property prices in County Carlow have risen by 12.14% over the past year.
The median price of a home in the county reportedly increased from €259,500 in July of 2025 to €291,000 in July 2026.
That compares with a 5.74% increase in Kilkenny, where the median price rose from €328,895 to €347,765 in the same period.
The data also shows differences between Eircode areas.
R93 Carlow rose from €285,000 to €300,000 (5.26%), R95 Kilkenny jumped from €345,000 to €358,444 (3.9%), while R21 Mhuine Beag recorded an 8.04% increase, from €242,500 to €262,000.
REA estate agent Harry Southern says the countywide figure for Carlow doesn’t give a true reflection of property prices in the locality.
He says factors such as property size, location and condition are not considered, while higher-value properties sold during the year may have inflated the figure.
