Torrential rain, lightning, and hail forecast for Carlow and Kilkenny as weather warning takes effect

Carlow County Council has issued an urgent weather warning as widespread heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected today (Sunday).

The Met Éireann Status Yellow rain warning takes effect from midday and will remain in place until 9pm tonight.

Sudden, torrential downpours, lightning, and hail could cause difficult traveling conditions, poor visibility, and disruption to local outdoor events.

Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution on the roads.
