The build-up continues to quarter-final weekend in the St Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship, with O’Loughlin Gaels and Tullaroan preparing to meet at UPMC Nowlan Park.
The sides go head-to-head on Sunday at 1.15pm, with the eagerly anticipated clash featuring prominently on the latest KCLR Hurling Podcast analysis edition.
Eddie Scally says he has been impressed by O’Loughlin Gaels’ ability to remain competitive despite losing a significant number of players.
“I am stunned at how O’Loughlin Gaels are as competitive as they have been with the amount of players they have lost. I know that sounds stupid.”
Micky Walsh agreed that the club’s performances have defied expectations, while highlighting the quality of the previous meeting between the teams.
“It actually doesn’t sound stupid. You would say at the start of the year they are under pressure, but they are not. They are still there.
“They played each other three weeks ago, and it was a thriller of a game. Really, really top-class stuff. I don’t think this will be any different. This is definitely a 50/50 game.”
The teams last met in the league three weeks ago, with O’Loughlin Gaels coming out on top in a high-scoring encounter, 3-20 to 2-20.
