Disappointment at closure of Kepak plant in Carlow

Shock and anger has been expressed after Kepak announced that it is to close its facility in Hacketstown.

The processing plant has been open for the last 27 years and its closure is being described as a major blow to the local economy and farmers in the area.

49 jobs will be lost when the facility shuts on March 6th and Carlow/Kilkenny TD Pat Deering admits its a devastating blow to the local community :
