Argentina open World Cup campaign with win

One of world football’s biggest names helped Argentina to victory in one of the most famous stadiums at the World Cup last night.

Lionel Messi scored a brilliant goal to help his side to a 2-1 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina at Rio’s Maracana.

Iran face Nigeria in this evening’s other Group F game.

France thrashed Honduras 3-0 in Group E – which featured the use of goal-line technology at the World Cup for the first time – and Switzerland scored a late winner to beat Ecuador 2-1.

This evening, Germany take on Portugal in what could be a thriller in Group G, and then later – it’s Ghana against the USA.
