New block at St Lukes Hospital to be open by next July

The brand new facilities at St Lukes Hospital should all be up and running by this time next year.

Work is continuing there on a 21 million euro investment and the new block will be opening on a phased basis over the course of the next 12 months starting with the new emergency department and the medical assessment unit.

Hospital manager Ann Slattery confirmed to Sue Nunn this morning that the project is running on schedule

Additional resources will be required and she says that they are hopeful that requests made for extra staff will be sanctioned.
