Phil Hogan confirmed as new EU Commissioner

Phil Hogan will be our next EU Commissioner.

The Former Fine Gael Minister will be the first man from Carlow Kilkenny to hold such a role.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny finally confirmed the worst kept secret in Irish politics this year when he announced the Cabinet Reshuffle in the Dail this afternoon.

Deputy Hogan says he’s honoured to get the nomination and says he’s looking forward to trying to secure a big portfolio on the commission.

The New Labour Deputy Leader Alan Kelly is taking over as Environment Minister and Deputy Hogan’s wishing him well in the job.

And he says that he doesn’t mind handing over to a Tipperary man.
