Parents across Kilkenny and Carlow have until Friday August 1st to pay online to secure a place for their children on the school public transport system for this coming academic year.
Bus Eireann have also doubled their staff numbers on the Freephone helpline which was set up last week in an effort to clear an unprecedented backlog because of new payments system glitches.
A Carlow-Kilkenny TD has revealed that BUS Eireann had been forced to extend the deadline for stressed-out parents.
Deputy John Paul Phelan says that his office has been inundated with calls from frustrated parents who
have had difficulty accessing the online system, using the map and confirming payment.
He adds that many of these parents fought hard to secure a place for their child on the bus and feared losing that place because they simply could not pay on online and on time.
The Fine Gael TD says that he has been reassured by Bus Eireann that no child will be left on the side of the road ad that problems with the system are being addressed.
Parents experiencing problems processing payments should call the Freephone 1800 945 945 helpline which is open from 9am to 8pm weekdays.
