Number of local homes identified with lead pipes is expected to rise

Irish water expects to identify more houses across Carlow and Kilkenny with lead pipes as their metering programme is extended.

141 homes can expect letters from the utility shortly advising them that it may be damaging to their health.

Yesterday the Environment Minister Alan Kelly said grants will be made available to low-income houses to help replace them.

Jerry Grant of Irish Water told KCLR Live he expects the numbers will grow.
