Figures have been published today showing exactly how much our Dail Deputies spent on getting elected last time out.
With an election looming the Irish Times has examined how much TD’s spent on their campaigns for the 2011 General election.
The 5 elected from Carlow and Kilkenny spent varying amounts on each first preference vote – Fine Gael Deputy John Paul Phelan had the lowest spend with €1.87 while his Carlow colleague Pat Deering had the highest at €3.23.
Fianna Fail Deputy John McGuinness was next with a spend of €3.04, Labours Ann Phelan spent €2.54 with the now EU Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan spending €2.46 per first preference vote.
He was replaced in the Dail recently by Fianna Fails Bobby Aylward but figures for the by-election were not yet available.
