Minister Phelan gets new Social Enterprise responsibilities

Minister of State Ann Phelan has been assigned a new role within her current job.

The local TD and Minister for Rural affairs has been given responsibility for the social enterprise agenda.

Her new role will see her engaging with business models set up to tackle social, economic or environmental issues.

The social enterprise sector currently employs more 25 thousand people with a total income of around 1.4 billion euro.
