Kilkenny Gardaí investigating postbox fire at Government Buildings

Gardaí are investigating after a fire broke out in a post box outside the Department of Social Protection’s office in Kilkenny.

The Department this afternoon released a statement advising customers that some items of correspondence left in the box between 2 o’clock yesterday and 8am today have been damaged by fire.

The post box is fixed to the railings at the pedestrian entrance to Government Buildings on the Hebron Road in the city.

Anyone who may have posted any application forms or letters there is asked to contact the office on 056 7715100.

The Department has apologised for any inconvenience caused.

The post box has since been replaced and the Gardaí in Kilkenny have been notified of the incident.
