Carlow county council has plenty of reasons to celebrate today.
The local authority collected the overall Council of the Year prize at the Chambers Ireland Awards last night.

It also won the Supporting Tourism category.
Director of Services Bernie O Brien says they weren’t expecting the top award at all.
