The Health Minister is due to visit St Lukes Hospital today ironically on a day where there are no patients on trolleys at the local facility.
Leo Varadkar is in town to launch John Paul Phelans election campaign today and will call at the local hospital where a new emergency department is expected to open within weeks.
In its daily trolley watch report the INMO says figures for St Lukes today show no patients on trolleys at the acute hospital for Carlow-Kilkenny -thats the first time since Christmas Eve.
Just last week St Lukes was at the higher end of the scale recording 36 patients on trolleys on Tuesday last.
