Kilmanagh’s status as a village has been removed in a number of Council development plans, in favour of the term “rural node”.
At Kilkenny County Council’s first meeting yesterday, it was raised that Kilmanagh had not been defined as a village in the 2021-2027 Kilkenny County Development Plan.
In 2021 the village was re-designated from a rural village to a rural node, with the area having had a village status dating back to the 1300’s
A local councillor has backed calls for an extraordinary meeting of the Council, in order to reinstate Kilmanagh’s status.
