Four local villages and towns are set to benefit from a windfall of over 100,000 euro each.
Ballyhale, Piltown, Urlingford and Kells have been granted the money under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
Committees from each of the four areas now have just over a week to make their submissions on what to do with the money – applications have to be in by the 30th of this month.
Kilkenny Councillor Pat Fitzpatrick says they only put forward their four strongest project areas this year because the time was tight.
However, speaking to KCLR today, he says he would like to see it extended next year to other other areas around the county.
