Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Kilkenny woman Jo Jo Dullard have recovered the axle of a car during a search linked to her murder inquiry.
The discovery was made at a quarry on the Kildare/Wicklow border, where an excavation began last week following new information from a witness.
Jo Jo Dullard and Kildare woman Deirdre Jacob went missing in 1995, and their cases remain some of the country’s most high-profile unsolved investigations.
Crime Editor with the Irish Sun Stephen Breen says the axel found yesterday will be closely examined.
“The search is in a specific area of the quarry and it’s primarily looking for a number of vehicles that the Gardaí believe could have been buried there.” he said.
“Yesterday (Saturday) they recovered an axle of a vehicle, but I think it’s important to note that there is no suggestion that at the moment that that’s part of any vehicle that may have been left there as part of their inquiry, so they’ll just analyse that piece of equipment that they recovered in the hope that they can yield some evidence.” he added.
