‘Carlow Central’ to bring a major boost for local trade according to developers

The developers of the new “Carlow Central” say it’s a major boost for local tourism and for trade in the town.
The €70m development on Kennedy Avenue will be anchored by Penneys, and is set to bring 225 jobs during the construction phase and a further 800 when it’s up and running.
Lexeme Properties Limited made the announcement yesterday, and early plans indicate that it could be open for Christmas 2018.
KCLR news understands that stores such as Debenhams and Starbucks are just two of the names being linked to the new shopping centre.
However; when speaking to us earlier, Karl Stewart, Head of Retail with Cushman & Wakefield, wouldn’t be drawn on what exactly shoppers can expect.
He says they hope to make official announcements in the near future, and it will become clearer what stores will be filling the vacant units.
