Males are paid almost 10 percent more than females based on the average hourly rate of pay at Carlow County Council.
That’s according to the latest Gender Pay Gap Report published by the local authority.
The mean gender pay gap has increased slightly with males earning 9 point 54 percent more than females based on the average hourly rate.
Last year the gap was slightly lower at 9 point 14 percent.
However, it should be noted that the median rate of pay, that’s the difference between the hourly rate of the middle paid male and female, shows that females are paid 11 point 38 percent more than males.
53 percent of employees at Carlow County Council are male with 46 percent of all employees working in management and administration.
