The hosepipe ban is being lifted in 13 counties from Thursday, but will be extended until the end of September in 13 others .
Uisce Éireann says the Water Conservation Order, introduced in July following hot, dry weather and increased demand, will remain in place in counties including Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.
The utility says water supplies in the east and south remain under pressure, while improved conditions mean the order can be lifted in 13 other counties.
