Carlow county council in lock-down this morning

Carlow county council offices are in lock-down this morning as the local authority has upped security.

The doors have been locked but the public can still access the building by identifying themselves and the nature of their business.

It follows the latest disturbance there last evening during which Gardai made 2 arrests – a man and a woman were detained on public order offences. Both were released without charge pending a file to the DPP.

Meanwhile a number of people are protesting outside the offices there – it’s understood a local woman who has declared herself homeless has now pitched a tent.
