A draw between Ballinkillen & Naomh Brid in the opening game of the J.J. Kavanagh & Sons 2015 Carlow senior hurling championship can and may prove very valuable when the closing stages come.
Ballinkillen’s left half forward Alan Whelan scored the first point of the championship from play.
The blue and gold men led by 0-10 to 0-4 at half time, however Naomh Brid battled back and a mighty long free from James Kane went straight to the Ballinkillen net as they took the lead for the first time with five minutes remaining,
In a highly competitive game it was centre back David English that rescued Ballinkillen with seconds remaining
Final Score Ballinkillen 0-15 Naomh Brid 1-12
