Carlow girl Shauntelle under went surgery after receiving an anonymous donation to cover costs

An anonymous doner has covered the five thousand dollar shortfall required for surgery for a Carlow girl who is suffering from a rare form of cancer.

KCLR news understands that 17-year-old Shauntelle Tynan, who is in Texas, went into surgery in the past few hours in an attempt to prevent the cancer spreading to her bowel.

A fresh appeal was issued in recent days so the surgery which costs almost 20 thousand dollars could go ahead .

The surgery she requires is unavailable in Ireland and so Shauntelle has been forced to seek treatment in America at huge financial cost.

Shauntelle’s Mother Leona has told KCLR news that she’s relieved and grateful that they received the anonymous donation and she’s hopeful they will get the answers they need to get whatever is going on under control.
