Carlow man crowned one of Ireland’s volunteers of the year

A Carlow man has been named one of Ireland’s volunteers of the year.

The Volunteer Ireland Awards took place last night and John Paul Payne was the only local to have been shortlisted.

He was responsible for organising Carlow’s first ever Pride Festival and Parade during the summer.

John Paul won the award in the Arts, Culture and Media category.
