IT Carlow may be looking into purpose-built student accommodation

A member of IT Carlow Students’ Union says the local Institute may look into constructing purpose-built accommodation in the future.
It comes as official figures reveal that nationally there’ll be a shortfall of 25 thousand student beds when 3rd level colleges resume in the autumn and that many students are changing their college choices as a result.
Lorna Fitzpatrick, Deputy President of the SU in IT Carlow says it’s nowhere near as bad in Carlow as it is in places like Dublin.
However, as it stands, the local IT does not provide purpose-built student accommodation but she says it’s something they may be looking into.
