Women in Carlow and Kilkenny appear to be at opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to getting checked out for cervical cancer.
Figures from the National Cervical Screening Programme have shown that women in Carlow have the highest take-up rate in the state at 90%.
However, those with a Kilkenny address are amongst the lowest at just over a 70% take-up.
This week is Cervical Cancer Prevention Week and speaking to KCLR, Dr Gráinne Flannelly says it’s strange to see such a difference in attitude between the women in Carlow and those in Kilkenny.
She says they are delighted that Carlow has such a high take-up rate and hopes it will continue to be the case.
