Carlow Kilkenny has a Minister again.
Fine Gael Deputy John Paul Phelan has been appointed as Minister of State at the Department of Housing, with special responsibility for local government and electoral reform.
The announcement was made by Taoiseach Leo Varadkar shortly before 3 o’clock.
Junior Minister Phelan has told KCLR News this afternoon that he does intend to look into the possibility of restoring town councils and that his stance on any changes to county boundaries remains the same as it always has;
It’s not something he would support.
He will take part in his first debate tomorrow evening.
