The Citizens Assembly is urging you to make a submission before it considers the challenges and opportunities of an ageing population.
The Assembly was set up by the Government to look at a range of issues and recently voted to amend rather than repeal the Eighth Amendment.
CSO figures from 2011 show there were almost 21,000 people over the age of 60 in Carlow and Kilkenny. On the Island of Ireland, the figure rises to 1.1 million people.
They project that this will more than double by 2041 and will make up nearly a third of the islands total population.
Justice Laffoy says an ageing population will bring implications for policy, service delivery, and long term planning in areas such as health, housing, education and employment.
The closing date for submissions is next Friday, May 19th and further information is available at www.citizensassembly.ie.
