The gable wall of Number 22 Vicar Street is to be retained as plans for Kilkenny’s Central Access Scheme proceed.
The news comes just weeks after the most recent reports on archaeology and built heritage found the the houses on Vicar street are not medieval.
Today Kilkenny county manager Joe Crockett wrote to members of the the county and Borough councils today to inform them that the gable wall of number 22 will remain.
In the letter the Manager says the decision was taken in order to avoid further disagreement and further costs of investigation and in the possible interest of the building heritage of Kilkenny.
House number 20 will also be retained.
