A local councillor says he hopes common sense will prevail when it comes to the installation of a driver feedback sign on the N25 near Glenmore.
A static speed camera has been in operation on the N25 since last summer, with Gardaí reporting that the number of vehicles exceeding the speed limit in the area has begun to decline in recent weeks.
Speaking to KCLR News, Councillor Ger Frisby said he hopes that Transport Infrastructure Ireland, which is responsible for driver feedback signage, will take local concerns into account.
“It is their decision to make, but hopefully they will see with the amount of correspondence and reps that they’re getting, that something needs to be done, even with the camera where it is at the moment.” he said.
“It has improved driver behaviour, I drive that road three or four times a week, you can markedly see the difference in the speed on that section road and hopefully that is feeding into making the road safer and that we would have no accidents on the road, I think we’re after having too many who has already been outlined.” he added.
