DJ Carey takes charge of Kilkenny U-14 county Football team

Kilkenny hurling legend, DJ Carey, has swapped the sliotar for the football to help develop the sport in the county.

He says it was Ned Quinn’s heartfelt apology to the Kilkenny minor footballers that pushed him to get involved.

The former Kilkenny Senior Hurler has taken over as manager of the under-14 county team.

Back in April County Board Chairman, Ned Quinn, spoke to KCLR following the minor team’s 17-20 to just 1 point defeat at the hands of Wexford.

The team were widely ridiculed for their performance but DJ told KCLR Live today that the same development isn’t there for football as for hurling.
