€800,000 raised by Kilkenny Lions Hamper Appeal to date with figure set to rise as 2022 dates approach
Brian Cody was on hand again to launch the event this December

Kilkenny Lions Christmas hamper appeal is marking its 30th year.
The annual campaign was launched at city hall last evening ahead of the December auction here on KCLR with the Kilkenny People.
It runs on the Farm Show on the 1st and 8th of December and on set day time programmes from 6th to 8th of the month
Those gathered heard how €800,000 has been raised since 2002 – something legendary former KK hurling manager Brian Cody was quick to praise, telling KCLR News’ Sinéad Burke “It is really incredible for sure, just a mark of the work they’re doing and the amount of effort they put into it, you know I come along here every year I’m asked, and privileged to be asked, to launch the appeal which is all I do”.
He adds “The Lions Club, the members every year I come they’re here and they’re so ready to go to work, so ready to help people and obviously the needs out there this year are alarmingly but they’re ready to put shoulder to the wheel and they will make a real difference for people”.
And when asked if the annual campaign’s something he himself supports Brian said “Course it is, the Lions, the members are doing the work, it’s a small thing for me to do what I do and it’s volunteering, everybody in there is doing volunteering for the good of others and for the benefit of others and absolutely I would support them massively”.
