A senior HSE official has compared people socialising on the streets over the weekend to V-Day.
It follows gatherings of large crowds in Dublin, Cork and Galway over the past few days.
While beaches and other outdoor facilities across the South East were thronged with people, many of whom were out and about enjoying the good weather. And Kilkenny’s famed Car Boot Sale yesterday reached its capacity earlier than usual and had to close its doors to new arrivals before lunchtime.
More restrictions are due to ease this week with the reopening of hotels, while outdoor dining is resuming next week. (Details here).
