A first of its kind eye surgery takes place in the Whitfield Clinic in Waterford today.

The healthcare centre which is run by Kilkenny man David Beirne are hoping to live broadcast an operation using 3D camera technology with over 50 eye doctors from across the county invited to view it.

Its part of a conference where they’ll get the chance to see future technology which could mean surgeries can be done on a patient from the other side of the world.
