Gardaí are warning of the dangers and illegality of fireworks.
As we head for Hallowe’en many communities across Carlow and Kilkenny have reported them going off in their areas while just last week The KCLR Daily heard from a Graiguecullen homeowner who had a few thrown into his back garden just minutes after his 20-month-old son had been playing there.
Garda Andy Neill has this reminder; “Coming in the run-up to Hallowe’en with seizures of fireworks and fireworks incidents starting all around KIlkenny adn Carlow fireworks are of course illegal, bar the sparklers and the very, very small devices, fireworks are illegal and the selling of them, possession of them, is also illegal”.
He adds; “They’re also linked to a great amount of anti-social behaviour so we’re asking people if they become aware that their children have got hold of fireworks or plan on using them to work with us and prevent this”.
