The impact of Storm Darragh is being felt across Carlow and Kilkenny as a Status Orange warning has been downgraded to Yellow until 3 pm this afternoon.
Around 14,000 homes and businesses are without power across the two counties with 8,000 of those in Kilkenny and the remaining 6,000 in Carlow.
ESB Networks says its crews are assessing the damage and are restoring supply where it is safe to do so.
It says it will publish estimated restoration times on powercheck.ie as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, road-users are urged to take extreme caution, with reports of fallen trees and debris across the region including at Paulstown, the Castlecomer road between Larkins and Castlecomer, Ossory Hill, Castlecomer side of Killeshin and the Urlingford to Freshford road and the Callan road.
Its understood, Lismaine Bridge between Freshford and Ballyragget, is blocked this morning.
There’s a large branch across the road at the grave yard on Fenagh to Bagenalstown road.
While there are also reports of trees down in John Sweeney Park and in nearby estates in Tullow.
The Carlow park run and Tullow park run have both been cancelled today.
While the early Waterford to Dublin train was delayed for almost an hour while a tree was cleared from the line at Mullinavat.
