There’s been some movement on plans for a new Injury Unit in Carlow.
The Minister of State at the Dept of Health and local TD Jennifer Murnane O’Connor says a contractor’s been appointed for the provision at St Dympna’s Hospital.
A number of rooms there will be refurbished with work to begin shortly in the expectation it’ll be completed by the end of this year, which is in line with what the HSE had earlier this year told KCLR News (that’s here).
Minister Murnane O’Connor says; “This is a much needed facility for the people of the Carlow and it is one I have been working on during my time as a TD and later as a Minister in the Department of Health”.
She adds; “Carlow town and the surrounding areas has a growing population and it is crucial that we have the proper health facilities in place.”
In conclusion the Minister noted; “I look forward to the opening of the Injury Unit and thank the local hospital staff and the HSE for their work on this”.
