Over 6,800 non-Irish residents arrived into Dublin Airport last week – an increase of almost a fifth on the previous seven days.
That’s despite mandatory hotel quarantine for high-risk countries.
A total of 15,600 people flew into the airport last week, a rise of 5%.
Carlow native Pat Dawson heads up the Irish Travel Agents Association and he says the number of people coming here on holidays remains small, noting “First of all is the testings they have to do, and then if they had to quarantine if they were under countries that are red in Ireland and they had to do hotel quarantine and then the restriction on accommodation and where they can stay and their movement and certainly with the restrictions we have it wouldn’t be a place to be holidaying at the moment”.
