A north Kilkenny councillor’s hit out at central government for the ongoing wait for flood relief funding.
At a recent meeting of the local authority, Director of Services Mary Mulholland said 69 roads locally had been damaged during the flooding and storms in the first two months of this year during which time there were 17 route closures. (

It’s been estimated that the cost to repair the damage came in just under €5million, almost half of which is needed in the Callan / Thomastown municipal district alone.
Cllr Deirdre Cullen noted the need to embrace nature-based solutions in the course of these works so that might be worth teasing out.
