There were wins for O’Loughlin Gaels, Ballyhale Shamrocks, Thomastown, Dicksboro and Clara on Saturday as the St Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Senior Hurling League continued.
Ballyhale Shamrocks recorded a 2-26 to 1-20 victory over Tullaroan, with Adrian Mullen making his return to club action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Mullen suffered a broken thumb in November during Ballyhale’s Leinster club quarter-final victory over Kilcormac-Killoughey. The 26-year-old required surgery and missed the remainder of the club campaign.
He did return to inter-county action earlier this year, appearing from the bench in Kilkenny’s final two championship games against Kildare and Dublin.
After Ballyhale’s victory over Tullaroan on Saturday, Mullen spoke to KCLR about his happiness at finally getting back playing club hurling.
“It’s great to be back out there. It’s always good to be playing in these sort of games. The weather is good, the ball is flying out there.
“A good win, two points on the board. We will move onto the next day.”
Mullen’s return will be a welcome boost for Ballyhale as their senior league campaign continues, while Saturday’s victory gives the Shamrocks another two points on the board.
