Jack remains the most popular name for baby boys for the eighth consecutive year, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).
In Carlow, the top spot for girls was shared by fourteen names, including Caoimhe, Croía, Emily, Isla, Julia, Kate, Lily, Lucy, Maisie, Molly, Méabh, Rosie, Sadie, and Sophie. For boys, Jack and Noah shared the top spot.
Kilkenny saw a simpler trend, with Éabha taking the top spot for girls and Jack continuing as the most popular name for boys.
These trends highlight the enduring popularity of certain names in both counties, with Jack firmly holding its place as the favourite for boys.
