Kilkenny Kayaker says young people shouldn’t always be blamed for vandalism at Canal Walk

A local kayaker has warned against pointing the finger of blame at young people for the vandalism of public property at Kilkenny’s canal walk.

Adrian Shanahan of Kilkenny’s canoeing and kayaking club was speaking to KCLR following his discovery of missing bollards, smashed bins and missing signs in the area yesterday.

Placing CCTV cameras in the area has been suggested as one way of deterring people from vandalism in the area.

But Adrian said he would be slow to put all the blame on young people.
