A popular Kilkenny school’s finally getting its long awaited extension.

The project to build 12 new classroom in Johnstown’s Coláiste Mhuire has been given the green light to go to tender.

The expansion will see eight new general classrooms built, alongside two science labs, a new home economics lab and a second design and graphics room.

Local TD John Paul Phelan says many people in Johnstown have been calling out for the upgrades; They’ve been seeking this for a long time. The school has expanded and grown greatly over the past 20 years and these upgrades are badly needed and most welcome.”
